Si queremos proponer, debemos entender. If we want to propose, we must understand. That's why Investigando proposes a participatory action-research model. As teachers, we seek to live and understand what really happens inside the multigrade rural classroom and characterize these spaces. Currently there is a deficit of accessible, clear, and useful information that defines what the enabling factors, barriers, teacher needs, and professional support are. We do this process at three different scales:
Four teachers started working at the same school. The question arises: what's happening in rural education?
We traveled to Carmen de Viborál wanting to understand the dynamics of early childhood education in rural areas. Inequality in Colombia begins from early childhood.
Wanting to connect different play centers and have greater reach, Leonor, the traveling mule, was born.
We started with recreational vacations for different schools in the Santo Domingo River Canyon and creating play centers in the schools.
Different allies are arriving to execute the different projects: J&J, Sanofi, Los Nogales School
After conversations with the community, the idea of a learning center emerges. Participatory design of Casa de Leonor begins.
Really wanting to understand the challenge of multigrade rural education, a research phase begins: Investigando.
